DESCRIPTION
8 vo. 260 pp. Arabic text, modern hard back binding, library stamps on title page. Ibn al-Quti was an Andalusian historian and the greatest philologist at the Umayad court of caliph Al-Hakam II. His highly anecdotal history is unusual among the Arab chronicles. He refutes a claim that the Umayyad emirs of Cordoba retained the fifth (quinto or Kums, a tax) for the Caliph of Damascus. His history of Iraq is considered to be as one of the best informative history of the country.
