DESCRIPTION
120 pp., Arabic text + 7 pp., of English text (introduction), edited with an introduction & notes by Vahid Behmardi, publisher s original wrappers, Band 93, Ergon Verlag. The author was born in Rasht (Iran in 1797). He joined the circle of Shaykh Ahmad Ahsai, the founder of the Shaykhi School. Rasti was acknowledged by all the followers of the School in Iran and Iraq as the undisputed leader of the denomination and, thus, established himself as an eminent religious leader in Karbala, where he headed his own theological seminary, and enjoyed considerable influence that exceeded seminary circles and Shi i communities. Risalta Al-Suluk may be categorized as a work on theological and religious ethics from a Shi i perspective. Several conservative clerics criticized the content of this treatise accusing Rasti of expounding Sufi and Akhbari beliefs, and of calling people to refrain from emulating religious leaders.
