Al-Husayn Al-Sulami (d.412/1021), is based on a very old manuscripts that was copied in 474/1081, about sixty years after the author's death. The treatises deal with the sufi hermeneuticsof the letters (Ma'ani Al-Huruf), the mystical vision of the prophets ascension (Lata'if Al-Mi'raj), the mystical terminology of early Sufism (Tafsir alfaz Al-Sufiya), the stories of Sufis describing their mystical experiences and miraculous events (Hikayat Al-Sufiya), and the poetical verses used by early Sufis to Illustrate their mystical experiences of ecstasy and union with god (al-Amthal wa l-istishhadat)._x000d_ This is the first critical edition of these sufi treatises and it is introduced by a detailed analytical study of sulami's writings as a whole.
